First Extends Flight Cancellations and Commits to Full Refunds Amidst Ongoing Crisis

Go First, the crisis-hit airline, provides updated information on flight cancellations and refund policy.

In a recent announcement, Go First, a leading airline facing a severe crisis, revealed that its scheduled flight operations would remain suspended until June 16, 2023, extending the previous cancellation deadline of June 12. The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the cancellations and assured passengers that a full refund would be issued promptly.

The airline, via a tweet, stated, “We regret to inform you that due to operational reasons, Go First flights scheduled till June 16, 2023, have been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the flight cancellations.” This development disrupts the travel plans of passengers who were expecting to fly with Go First during this period.

Acknowledging the impact on travelers, Go First emphasized its commitment to providing assistance to affected passengers. In a letter, the airline stated, “We acknowledge the flight cancellations might have disrupted your travel plans, and we are committed to providing all the assistance we can.” The airline recognizes the significant inconvenience caused and aims to support passengers in managing the disruption.

Go First assured customers that a full refund would be processed using the original mode of payment shortly. This measure seeks to alleviate the financial burden on passengers who had made bookings with the airline. The company’s commitment to issuing full refunds demonstrates its dedication to customer satisfaction and aims to rebuild trust in these challenging times.

The airline faced its initial setback in early May when it filed for voluntary insolvency, leading to the suspension of its operations. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India’s civil aviation regulator, intervened and advised Go First to submit a comprehensive restructuring or revival plan within 30 days. This plan, once submitted, will undergo thorough review by the DGCA to determine further appropriate action.

The extended cancellation period signifies the airline’s ongoing struggle to stabilize its operations and address the underlying challenges it faces. Go First’s diligent efforts to develop a comprehensive revival plan will be crucial in regaining stability and rebuilding its reputation in the aviation industry.

The aviation community will closely observe the developments surrounding Go First’s restructuring plan, as the outcome will not only impact the airline itself but also the broader industry. With passengers eagerly awaiting updates, all eyes remain on Go First as it navigates through this critical phase.
